Bespoke Furniture

Tim Wood designs and makes furniture of the highest quality. What sets Tim Wood apart is Tim Wood's bespoke service: everything is tailor-made to a client's exact requirements. Tim Wood specialises in combining the highest level of craftsmanship, creative use of different types of wood and the best of modern manufacturing methods to create pieces that are original, beautiful and functional.

Tim Wood trained at the highly renowned Parnham House, The John Makepeace School for Craftsmen in Wood. Tim Wood then set up his own business in 1988 and quickly gained a reputation for the creative use of both traditional and modern techniques, delivering to each client a one-off piece of the highest quality.

Tim Wood's range extends from individual pieces such as a jewellery box or boardroom table to kitchens, libraries and bathrooms, and to the interior design and fitting out of entire houses and commercial projects.

Luxurious materials

The types of wood that Tim Wood uses range from the traditional such as oak, maple, mahogany, sycamore and lignum vitae to the more unusual satinwood, zebrano and snakewood. All the timber comes from sustainable sources in either Europe or further afield. Tim Wood works with leather, precious metals and stones too, mixing materials to create unique statement pieces. For instance, a dining room table with an American black walnut veneered top, laser-cut metal construction base and ebony stringing. Another example of an imaginative mix of materials is a bespoke kitchen made for one client: in flamed Brazilian mahogany was mixed with maple and a shivakazi granite worktop to give an exclusive, modern look. Everything is hand-made by Tim Wood's team of forty craftsmen and every project results in a unique bespoke work of art.

Antiques of the Future

With superlative craftsmanship and a luxurious mix of different woods and materials in an original bespoke design, Tim Wood creates not just a piece of furniture but design classics that will stand the test of time.

This kitchen is made from French polished Brazilian mahogany with satinwood, pommele douka and ebony stringing in the panels.  The central island has a maple work surface to give a contrast to the darker woods underneath.  The cupboards either side of the traditional cream Aga have granite worktops.  All the drawers are made from Brazilian mahogany and hand dovetailed.  All the knobs were specially made and are wedge fixed.
This door is being finish by hand before being glued, stained and French polished. It is made of a solid Brazilian mahogany framework, with satinwood, pommele douka and ebony stringing in the panel.
