Apothecary chest designed and made for the Chairman of Glaxo Smith Kline

This Apothecary chest was designed and made by Tim Wood in co-ordination with Dido Farrell of Dido Farrell Designs for the Chairman of Glaxo Smith Kline. It was designed as a showpiece for his office at Glaxo Smith Kline.

The chest is made of French polished Brazilian mahogany, with each drawer hand dovetailed and fitted precisely into its own numbered opening. All forty-two drawers have hand turned individually made wedge fixed knobs.

All the forty-two labels on the drawers were names given by Glaxo Smith Kline’s Chairman to illustrate their products. All the lettering was hand painted by Wood and Wood International Signs Limited onto forty-two Brazilian mahogany plates.
